Kapap Academy
Krav Panim El Panim – KAPAP is the Hebrew acronym for Face To Face Combat. It is the original combat system of defensive tactics, hand-to-hand combat and self-defense, employed by the Israeli defense and security forces in the 1940’s, before the formation of the State of Israel.
KAPAP fight tactics originated in the 1940’s and were used by the Palmach (Jewish Strike Brigades) forces in fighting for the independence of the State of Israel. These Palmach units later formed the core of Israel’s special units in the conventional military (IDF).
The KAPAP was a generic term used to describe skill sets for combat. The system was updated from its basic form of combat by the operatives of special units and official Instructors that served, and still serve, in Israel’s different security branches. Although it had been developed into the later term Krav Maga, which is now taught in the IDF and it’s SF units as H2H Counter Terror combatives it inspired us to dedicate our Academy name under the original name and it’s heritage.
KAPAP ACADEMY is based in the United States and serves as an International Instructional institute operating and represented in more than 20 countries by local Instructors certified under KAPAP ACADEMY. The Academy is not affiliated or “belongs” to any official institute or has any ties with any civilian Federation elswhere in the world.
KAPAP ACADEMY is headed by former official Israeli Military and Police instructors in Counter Terror combatives (LOTAR).
Albert Timen the founder and head Instructor is a former Elite Counter Intelligence undercover unit member for the IDF as well as a LOTAR and CQB instructor for various Police S.W.A.T. schools. Albert is one of only a few security operatives in the world to arrest a “live” Suicide Bomber! The bomber still had his explosive belt strapped on and was caught in the act of committing a bombing. In his 20 years of operational experience, Albert Timen has trained Special Units in various tactics and cross trained with the best operational units in the world.
Today’s KAPAP ACADEMY serves as a “think tank”, a repository of knowledge and EXPERIENCE with respect to the next level in Reality self defense. Today’s KAPAP is based on understanding and utilizing realistic scenarios that have emerged from real world experience in some of our worst and most threatening environments. Notably, KAPAP minimizes the need for either strength or power on the part of the KAPAP practitioner in taking action to protect themselves or their loved ones.
KAPAP ACADEMY courses are designed for security companies, security departments, Law Enforcement agencies, Military or civilians interested in upgrading their knowledge and capabilities in this field.
Our training system includes a well established curriculum and it is mainly based on live exercises and simulations. We believe that only a wise combination of strategy and tactical learning, with extensive and realistic training, can offer professional and practical solutions in modern high stress situations.

KAPAP – is a form of martial art, it is an extremely effective system of self defence techniques, easy to learn and practice. The acronym KAPAP comes from Krav panim el panim, which is Hebrew for face to face combat.
The history of KAPAP is one of evolution, borrowing techniques and methods from a wide variety of martial arts and combat types, it has grown and continues to grow into a streamlined collection of reactionary defensive moves.
